Why this blog?

As a current or former employee of Bedford Communications I've heard many stories and gripes and criticisms and suggestions ranging from good ideas that no one listens to, to ineffective policies that create poor company morale, to bizaar management practices. It's about communication, or lack thereof. With this blog, I hope to open up communication so that anyone can post and comment on ideas and suggestions to better not only the workplace, but hopefully the company as a whole.

Do you have marketing ideas, but you're not in the sales department? Are you in the sales department and see effort being spent in ineffective channels? Are there policies in place that you think are excellent, but need a little more support to be effective? Think advertisers interfere with editorial integrity? Think we should trim the fat and focus more heavily on the big names?

Suggestions on how to improve readability but you're not in the art department?  Got an idea for a cool photo shoot? Got a great idea for a column? Think a column needs to go? How is the editorial focus? Are we covering the areas that should be covered completely enough? Think a particular story was great? Crap? Why? How could it have been improved?

Do you feel your manager is doing a good job? Not so good? How could they improve? Managers, how do you feel you're doing yourself? Are there things you'd like to say but perhaps don't quite know how? Get your thoughts out here.

Please, no personal attacks. If you feel the need to vent, please try to be respectful. Bedford is a small family, and it's easy to get carried away or have text misconstrued that ends up causing more harm than good. The point of anonymous posting is freedom of speech without fear of reprisal, but please limit this to work-related issues. This is a social experiment, let's see what happens.
